AME Process

The AME Certification consists of one multiple choice exam with both Knowledge Based and Practical Based components. There are no prerequisites. The exam is taken in a “On Your Own” format:
AME On Your Own – The candidate takes an automated online exam at a time of their choosing after registering and receiving login credentials from AccessData. Details of the procedure are listed below.

AME On Your Own
- The candidate registers for AME by completing the online registration form. (see the link to the form at the bottom of this page)
- The candidate will receive login credentials and instructions by email from AccessData.
- The candidate, in preparation for the exam, downloads image files
- The candidate then logs into the online exam and answers the knowledge questions as well as practical questions based on the images downloaded and processed in MPE+.
NOTE: The AME On Your Own option requires the candidate to have access to a computer with licensed copies of MPE+. The version must be the most current version.

AME Credential Maintenance
- AME Credential Maintenance is required one year after the initial AME certification. After the first AME Maintenance session, the period will be every two years to maintain the AME credential.
- Retaking the initial AME certification exam can NOT be substituted for AME Credential Maintenance. If the AME certification expires the candidate must wait a period of one year before being permitted to take the initial AME certification exam.
- AME Credential Maintenance requires passing a practical examination; the examination can be taken online at a time of your choosing.
